An early Acoma Pueblo piece of tourist pottery, ca 1920s. An ashtray on 3 feet with a sweet creature standing on the edge. As it appears to have a collar, perhaps a dog? Charming, whatever it is. The center of the bowl has a 4 part whirling log design. Broad rests might have held a cigar rather than cigarettes. For a Pueblo pottery, this bowl is an appealing blend of tradition and new forms & elements intended to appeal to broad audience. 3 1/2″ tall at the critter’s ear x 5 1/2″ to 5 3/4″ including the rests. Signed on the underside, “Acoma, NM.” In very good old condition with light wear and light staining in the bowl.
