Silver overlay buckle by Tom Bahe, Elk in a forest.

Vintage silver buckle depicting a bull elk, by Navajo artist, Tom Bahe.  Born in 1924, Tom produced a variety of jewelry in various techniques.  He enjoyed using what has become the Hopi technique of silver overlay.  Tom did various versions of this elk, changing the forest background from buckle to buckle.  He finished the overlaid design with incised details on the elk and landscape.
The buckle measures just over 2 1/2″ x 3 1/4″ 1 1/2″ wide x 6 1/8,” and will take a 1 1/2″ belt.  In very good old condition with surface wear.
