Pueblo pottery corn fetish

This is an unusual piece of Native American pottery, a piece of clay corn.  This came from one of our northern New Mexico Pueblos.  Made of natural New Mexican clay, carved painted with natural pigments.  Two ears of corn, carefully made with hand-formed leaves, both with carved kernels.  This was not made for sale, I think this functioned as a fetish, probably related to Spring, growth and crops.  This is not new, I would guess it is several decades old, based on the wear and surface soil from years of being handled.  The piece measures 4 1/4″ tall x 3″ x 2.”
