Large old Pima (Akimel O’odham) Native American figural basket with lizards woven in! Typical of a Pima basketmaker’s work, this has the dark devil’s claw start and binding around the edge. The original paper label on the bottom of the basket reads, faintly, “Pima Indian” along with numbers and letters that I haven’t figured out. Warm old patina. The basket is 5 1/2″ deep x 10 1/8″ across the rim. The basket is in very good antique condition with the loss of 1 1/4″ of the dark binding, light wear and very few broken stitches. A terrific piece!
