Navajo rug, early figural “Tea Net Weight”

In Stock

1920 Navajo regional figural rug, “Tea Net Weight”

A wonderful old Navajo weaving!  The weaver observed designs and letters, almost certainly from a tea tin, but she  adapted the symbols for her use.  “Tea” and “Net” both fit but she split “Wei  ght” to make the letters fit her design.   This weaving is featured in the book “Navajo Pictorial Weaving 1880-1950, Folk Art Images of Native Americans” by Tyrone Campbell and Joel and Kate Kopp, on page 117.  The authors dated this rug to 1915-1925.  The rug measures 74″ x 48″ and is in outstanding condition for its age.

Price and S & I on request.
