A wild vintage Mexican piece of jewelry! One of the jade-ish stones used by Mexican jewelers, this is calcite, with a rich green hue and easier to carve. So, a huge carved calcite face or mask, set into a surprisingly delicate silver ring. The edges of the band behind the edges of the face, are curly foliate forms with leaves – so much labor, only seen with effort. Silver prongs hold the stone securely. Small-ish size, difficult to measure due to the shape but it’s around a size 7 and it could easily be sized. The only mark is a partial “STERLING” on the inside of the band.
