Meaning “sculpted photo,” a foto escultura is a photograph where the face is applied to the shaped wood backing. Then, clothing and other details were carved into the wood and carefully painted. This piece probably dates to the 1940s. Sold primarily in Mexico and in southern U.S. near the Mexican border. 12″ tall x 9 3/4″ wide at the base.
