A great old Native American made brooch. Gorgeous old stones & shells set into a simple and dramatic thunderbird. Unsigned but unmistakable Zuni construction with natural turquoise, shell and jet. Technically “channel inlay,” the stones/shells are cut to shape to fit into the silver bezels. One detail I like is that the silversmith was apparently conserving silver so the bird’s tail is a separate piece of silver, added to the basic silver platform. 1 7/8″ tall x 1 3/4″ wingtip to wingtip. Circa 1930s. The roller clasp works well, it’s wearable and, a great piece of history!
