A wonderful old piece! This is a hand-woven Rio Grande blanket. The word “frugal” springs to mind as the maker of this blanket used any scrap of wool available. Throughout the blanket, you can see color and design areas made up of different yarns, with slightly differing colors, different fibers, different plies, all combined to complete the piece. The whole blanket is approximately 69″ long, made up of two panels about 22.5″ wide, stitched together so the width of the blanket is about 45.” The blanket is in very good, worn condition, still soft to the touch, flexible and usable. An amazing piece of New Mexican history!
